This camcorder isn't very good at all for filming infrared. Shortwave infrared just barely makes it in, with the760nm filter that I have installed the picture is very dark. A lot of post-production digital filters were used to make the video viewable, and even at that its still quite grainy due to the original dark video. As it happened, with many of the new DSLRs incorporating a 1080p video capture function, I started to dream about playing in the HD video arena. Bottom Line: This advanced SONY camcorder actually allows me to exceed the creative vision that was in my mind's eye. It's just that good. The HDR-FX1000 camcorder has a 590mm long end on it's telephoto lens assembly. It covers the far reaches of the field with ease. The shutter speed can be set as fast as 1/10000 sec rendering 30p footage in razor sharp clarity. The 3 CMOS sensors are sensitive enough to work reasonably well for night matches under the lights - allowing fixed sustained shutter speeds in the 1/350 sec. to 1/750 sec range. Posting YouTube 1080p HD video clips recorded in the 30p mode has been a real joy that has been heartily embraced by our team families. The novelty of seeing such clearly rendered pro-quality video simply does not wear off easily among viewers. Working with the inexpensive and easily-archived HDV mini-cassettes has been an unexpected joy, as well. I also recommend the purchase of SONY Vegas HD Movie Studio Platinum 10.0 for it's enhanced video capture and rendering/export abilities. We are planning to do a short film in a few months, in the genre of zombie-apocalyptic. This was just a very short test shot in the location which we are hoping to film the short film 'Depletion'. I shot this short test film to practice using some new filming equipment which I have just equipped. Including various Opteka accessories. In post production I added all of the sounds. None of the audio was original. I added the gas mask breathing sound effect, all of the footsteps and the background music all in post production. I added the bleach bypass effect to give the cinematic feel and style. You can learn how to do this effect on youtube, by searching 'sony vegas bleach bypass'. I would say that about 97% of audio heard is from post production. We went out and filmed this with no intention of what we wanted. None of the shots were planned, we didnt even know were we were going to film. We had to get the shots and leave, so thats why the bit in the factory was quick, because people needed to get back to work. This was filmed in 'Over Quarry'.
